A Northern Region Head Injury and Concussion in Children pathway has been developed for primary care.
The HealthPathway provides assessment tools and management options for follow-up and referral for children 0-14 years old, who have a non-intentional head injury (without admission to hospital), within the Northern Region seen by General Practice, urgent Care medical facilities or Hospital emergency departments The pathway can be found at aucklandregion.healthpathways.org.nz.
ACC are piloting this pathway in primary care in the northern region. There is funding available to complete an assessment. Further information on this is available in the ‘Child head injury management pathway overview’ document.
