Have you been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?

We can provide practical and free support that will complement the information and care you get from your doctor and practice nurse.

Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) courses
These courses are for people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

The courses run in several locations, with regularly scheduled sessions in Albany (42 Tawa Drive), Orewa (Hibiscus Coast Community House, 214-216 Hibiscus Coast Highway), West Auckland (Hub West Community Facility, 27 Corban Avenue, Henderson), and Birkdale/Beach Haven (Birkdale Community House, 134 Birkdale Road, Birkdale).

We also provide one-day Chinese language (Mandarin) and Korean courses.

Dietitian clinics
You can have an individual appointment with a registered dietitian at a time that suits you, Monday to Friday. These appointments are for people with type 2 diabetes, or who have had a heart attack or stroke. The dietitian will work with you to formulate your own goals and dietary plan. We run regular clinics in Albany (42 Tawa Drive), Henderson (Waitakere Community Resource Centre) and Orewa (Hibiscus Coast Community House).

Supermarket tour
A dietitian-led supermarket tour can help you make better food choices and manage your diabetes well. Locations include Albany, Orewa, Henderson and Kelston.

Cooking demonstrations
Demonstrations focus on affordable, quick, healthy and tasty ideas. Locations vary.
