Practice Variation in Waitemata PHO; An Evaluation of the Status Quo; A Quality Initiative in Primary Care; Report Number II, September 2012
This report is Comprehensive Care’s second on clinical outputs. The purpose of these reports is to enable practices to review their capability in a number of important clinical parameters and to work toward measurable health outcome improvements for patients and the community.
In the early days of population screening we tended to report on what practices had accomplished; now because we look at and report on patients not seen, we highlight those missing out.
We recognise limitations in accurately reflecting the adequacy of clinical care, but this is all we currently have to evaluate performance. By next year, we hope to be able to access laboratory and pharmaceutical data directly and thus check the achievement in actual clinical care, rather than the recording of the activity.
