Our team facilitate Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) courses in several locations within Waitemata. We regularly schedule sessions in West Auckland, North Shore and Warkworth community venues.
Through DSME courses, our team of experts support people and their whānau diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes to understand:
Healthy eating practices – label reading, good and bad fats, healthier food choices
How to stop or control effects of diabetes on the body
Medications – how they work and new choices available
Your blood tests and what they mean
Goal setting – action planning, free support, where to from here
How to be the best with your health team
The course is organized in small groups so you can get the most from it, and ask questions in a safe environment. Attendees can bring a family member or friend for support.
2025 plans include providing one-day Mandarin and Korean DSME courses.
For more details and to register for any course, contact Margot McDonald on 09 448 0019 or email DSME@comprehensivecare.co.nz.
